I am interested in collaborative work.

St. Paul

Artist Statement

Cathy loves to explore life through travel and experiencing nature, cultures, and new wonders. She approaches her life’s journey as if on a photo safari. With camera in hand, each photo expeditions allows her to shift into an enhanced observational space; intentionally slowing down, heightening senses, and absorbing colors, layers, textures, stories, emotions, and wonders. Cathy aims to capture new perspectives as they emerge, even in familiar places, inspiring a deeper love for life, intensifying a thirst for adventure, sparking imagination, provoking empathy, and deepening gratitude. In short, I hope to inspire others to slow down and take time to “enjoy the view” – with all its depth, breath, beauty, and diversity.

Cathy Tobias worked mostly in the field of physical rehabilitation, clinical director of an MS program, and her own business as an aging life care specialist. At an early age, she was interested in the power of photography.

Later, she completed a “General Studies in Photography” certificate from the Ringling College of Art + Design in Sarasota, Florida. Her studies also included many courses on photography, photoshop, lightroom and design.

She has exhibited her work in several independent shows, including, Vietnam, Cuba, and a series called, “Openings”. Cathy enjoys entering her work in photography shows, and she has won various awards along the way.

Also, Cathy was one of three local photography artists chosen to participate in Partners2Gether, a Jewish Federation Re-art program conjunction with several other artists from their sister city, Rehovot, Israel. https://www.minneapolisjewishlife.org/blog/2020/5/5/learn-about-three-local-artists-who-made-artand-connectionsfrom-across-the-world
